Fox ESS CQ7 “Battery King” Powers Rebate-Ready Battery Solutions Across Residential and C&I Applications Under NSW PDRS Rule Updates
Melbourne, 9 July 2026 – The latest NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) rule changes are set to reshape the battery incentive landscape, opening new opportunities across small business, apartment and commercial energy storage markets. As a leading provider of advanced renewable energy solutions, Fox ESS is supporting partners with the CQ7 High Voltage Storage Battery — a powerful “one-battery-for-all” platform designed to accelerate business growth across multiple policy-driven battery applications.
“With the CQ7 Battery King supporting multiple rebate-ready smart energy solutions, partners can reduce the need to manage multiple battery models across different incentive categories, while simplifying inventory planning, project design, installer training and after-sales support,” said Brooks Richard, Country Manager Australia and APAC Managing Director at Fox ESS.

The updated PDRS rules broaden battery incentives across various activities, including BESS1 for eligible social housing programs, BESS2 for greater VPP onboarding flexibility, and BESS3 for strata-titled apartment batteries. However, the most commercially significant feature is the new BESS4 activity for small-to-medium C&I batteries, which will commence on 1 September 2026.
BESS4: Small-to-Medium C&I Batteries
• Eligible system size: 20–200 kWh; battery capacity-to-inverter size ratio must not exceed 4 hours
• Provides a $250/kW incentive; the first 100 kWh is stackable with the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries rebate
• A minimum co-payment of $5,000 per installed battery system applies
• Solar PV is not mandatory
• Products must be listed on the CEC-approved
• Warranty requirements are aligned with BESS1
• Council DA may be required, subject to project site and local council requirements
Because the BESS4 incentive can be stacked with the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, upfront support can significantly improve project feasibility and accelerate end-user decision-making. This creates strong growth opportunities for warehouses, farms, schools, retail sites and facility management projects, where energy resilience and reduced power costs are key priorities for business owners.
In response to these market opportunities, the Fox ESS CQ7 Battery King can be paired with a range of Fox ESS hybrid inverters to form rebate-ready system configurations. With its modular design and system flexibility, CQ7 can support key rebate-ready battery sizes, including approximately 28 kWh, 42 kWh, 50 kWh, 100 kWh and 200 kWh. CQ7 also offers strong usable energy capability with up to 91% round-trip efficiency, supporting business owners who want to maximise stored energy utilisation across daily charge and discharge cycles.

With a broad portfolio spanning residential batteries, modular high-voltage storage, hybrid inverters, C&I solutions and EV charging, Fox ESS is well positioned to support partners in the next stage of Australia’s battery market growth within the C&I sector.
